CANDLESTICK EDUCATION

How One-Minute Binance Candles Are Settled

Understand exactly when a one-minute candle begins, when it ends, and how its final color is determined from market data.

KTrade Academy

The short answer: A one-minute candle represents market activity inside one fixed sixty-second interval. It is green when its closing price is higher than its opening price, red when the close is lower than the open, and a doji when the values are equal under the platform’s comparison rules.

The four prices inside every candle

These four values are commonly called OHLC. The candle body visualizes the relationship between open and close, while the wicks represent the high and low.

  • Open: the first reference price recorded for the interval.
  • High: the highest reference price reached during the interval.
  • Low: the lowest reference price reached during the interval.
  • Close: the final reference price recorded when the interval ends.

Why the current candle keeps changing

Before the minute ends, every new market update can change the current close, high, or low. The candle may alternate between green and red several times. This movement is normal because the candle is still being formed.

Only the final completed candle should be used for a completed interval result. A live candle is provisional until its official boundary passes and final data is available.

A simple timing example

12:30:00A new one-minute interval opens and records its first reference price.
12:30:01–12:30:59Live updates move the candle body and wicks. Its displayed color may change.
12:31:00The previous interval is complete. Its final open and close values determine its color.
After completionKTrade Academy records the corresponding result and displays it in history.

Green, red and doji outcomes

If close is greater than open, the candle is green. If close is lower than open, it is red. If the two values are equal at the precision used for settlement, the result is a doji.

A doji policy should be handled consistently according to the platform rules, such as refunding or applying the stated no-result treatment. Members should review the current rules before participating.

Why local device time should not decide a result

A phone or computer clock can be early, late, or temporarily disconnected. Settlement should therefore rely on the authoritative server and market interval rather than the visible time on one device.

Reloading the page should restore the same completed result because the interval is tied to market time, not to when an individual opened the page.

Important: Very short candle intervals can move rapidly. Understanding settlement improves transparency, but it does not make the next candle predictable or remove the possibility of loss.

Frequently asked questions

Can a candle change color before it closes?

Yes. The live close changes with market updates, so the active candle can move between green and red.

Is a one-minute candle the same on every device?

It should represent the same market interval, although network delay can make live updates appear at slightly different moments.

What happens when open and close are equal?

That is generally treated as a doji and handled according to the platform’s published settlement rules.
